Anyways, the sweet old basic car mechanics. I almost feel nostalgic about the most important piece of mechanical cars, the car engine. The internal combustion engine, for example, has got its name because fuel, air, and electricity combust under pressure and create the energy necessary to move something as heavy as a car.
The combustion happens in a combustion chamber where all the small explosions happen. The chamber consists of pistons that move up and down the chamber. There’s the cylinder, which is basically the wall of the chamber, and the cylinder head, which serves as the ceiling of the combustion chamber. When the explosion happens and the pistons move up and down, the crankshaft which is connected to the pistons also moves. The crankshaft is connected with a camshaft through a belt. The camshaft extends on the top part of the engine and controls the intake and the outtake valves. Intake valves bring air and fuel into the combustion chamber and outtake valves release the drains produced after the combustion. It’s all existing explosions and moving parts. No software, just plain old mechanics. I really love them.
